Blancaneaux Lodge
Tucked into a remote region of the Maya Mountains and overlooking the gentle rapids of the Privassion River, Blancaneaux Lodge is a superb hotel inspired by Francis Ford Coppola's vision for rustic comfort in harmony with its surroundings.
Blancaneaux Lodge offers 20 sophisticated cabanas and villas that mirror the rainforest's vibrant foliage and the colourful local traditions of the area. Each shaggy palm-thatched cabana frames a dramatic vista of Privassion River from its own expansive wraparound sun deck. Teeming with character, the cabana interiors are adorned with bold native textiles and art with local hardwood furnishings including comfy queen-size beds. The hand painted Mexican-tiled bathrooms feature a Japanese style bathtub, some also include a high pressure shower. Each of the two bedroom villas showcases an equally lavish theme with the addition of a vast open-sided lounge area, a kitchenette and two en-suite bathrooms. In addition, there are two exceptional honeymoon cabanas with sweeping views across the falls and the extremely well-maintained tropical gardens; enjoyed from the mineral-salted plunge pool and furnished balcony.
The food here is as unique as the décor, with most of the fare coming from the hotel gardens. You can also enjoy the Blancaneaux cocktail while sitting at the Jaguar bar overlooking the river. The Lodge welcomes those with a sense of adventure and love of beauty, as there are many exciting adventures into the forest on foot or by horse from the lodges’ own stables.
