Arkaba Station
Arkaba Station, located in the Flinders Ranges at the foot of the Elder Range is possibly the most beautiful outback property in the country and offers guests the chance to sample some classic Australian hospitality.
The Arkaba Homestead, dates back to 1851 and is a classic Flinders building, with thick stone walls, deep shady verandahs and corrugated roofing all set against the backdrop of the rugged Elder Range. Four traditionally Australian style bedrooms are located in the homestead, each with an en suite bathroom and access to the verandah for relaxing in the heat of day.
Spectacular panoramas surround the property and over 300 species of bird and unique mammal species can be found here. But it is the regions geology that makes the area so special, its ancient landscapes moulded by hundreds of millions of years of geological activity, with craggy sandstone bluffs and dry creek beds lined with River Red Gums, all come together to make up a quintessentially Australian scene.
The owners Pat & Sally Kent invite guests to share in Station life and during your stay you can learn about the activities of an outback station and visit the old woolshed, the focus of the stations annual shearing since 1856.
