Radisson SAS Polar Hotel

The world’s northernmost full service hotel. The hotel was completed in March 1995 after a wing from the former Tråseth Hotel (The Americans’ sponsor hotel during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics) was transported to Svalbard. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the shops in the main town, and offers a good standard of accommodation.

The service section containing the restaurant and lobby was designed by the Polish architect Krystjan Dolatowski. His inspiration taken from Hiorthfjellet gave rise to the design of the high ceiling, giving the restaurant an almost sacral atmosphere with mountains greeting you as you walk into the room.

The hotel has 95 rooms- 42 standard rooms, 25 superior rooms, 28 apartments (four-bed rooms) and 1 suite. All rooms are well equipped with on-suite, TV, telephone and mini bar. Superior rooms are located on the first floor, and they all have views towards the mountain Hiortfjellet or Isfjorden.

The apartments have a small kitchenette, a bedroom with bunk beds, double sofa bed in the living room, bathroom with shower/WC, and a TV and telephone. The apartments are located in an annex to the hotel, approx. 30 metres away. The hotel has free Internet access and they also have a PC freely available to its guests.

The hotel's restaurant, Brasseri Nansen, features a panoramic view of the Isfjord and Hiorthfjellet mountain. The restaurant has a varied and tempting á la Carte menu featuring arctic dishes like seal, reindeer, whale and arctic char.

Radisson Polar Hotel Spitsbergen is also home to Barentz Pub & Spiseri, which is the town's most popular meeting place. The pub, where both local residents and tourists meet in informal surroundings, often features live music on the weekends.
