Trip Summary
Head north this October and experience the thrill of sailing in the High Arctic around picturesque Spitsbergen on board a traditional 1910 steel-hulled twin masted schooner, with good chances of observing the ethereal flickerings of The Northern Lights. The Aurora Borealis is never guaranteed, but this voyage provides an excellent chance of encountering them under the clear autumn skies with minimal light pollution. Your days will be spent leisurely sailing Spitsbergen’s scenic fjords, surrounded by calving glaciers looking for wildlife, with plenty of opportunity to explore historical sites. Arctic Foxes and Polar Bears are often found at the base of towering bird cliffs, while grazing Reindeer at this time are making the most of their last chance to feed before the tundra becomes snow covered. The ship itself has modern facilities, including hot showers and bar, otherwise this is as authentic and unique an Arctic experience as it gets and a real boy's own adventure.
