Trip Overview
As part of this unique expeditionary voyage's third season, depart from Anadyr (Russia) across the Bering Strait to Chukotka, a remote corner of northeastern Russia few people have had the privilege to experience. Ideal conditions for exploring are provided by the 24 hours of daylight and the retreat of the pack ice at this time. You'll see an abundance of wildlife, including walrus and seal, rich birdlife and a variety of whales, all taking advantage of the exceptionally abundant resources this area provides. On shore you will have the chance to meet some of the indigenous Chukchi Eskimo people who call this harsh region home. The culmination of this exciting voyage is an exploration of Wrangel Island, an isolated outpost now recognised by biologists as 'Polar Bear Maternity Ward' on account of the number of cubs born here.
