Kutandala Camp
The guest rooms are spread out along the river bank, giving ample space and privacy. All the rooms have an unrestricted view of the Mwaleshi River and its flood plain throughout the day. The dining area, bar and library are under the shade of a huge Natal Mahogany, deliberately and delightfully low key. The library is extremely comprehensive with over 250 titles relating to Zambia and the natural history of the area. With such small groups at any one time, exclusivity and flexibility is the key, with every safari tailored to the interests of the guests.
Each guest room has an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower. Iced drinks are available in the dining area, but thankfully there is no generator, and therefore no noise - lighting is provided by rechargeable solar lanterns and hurricane lamps.
The Walking Trail actually encompasses North and South Luangwa and is a ten-day (nine night) safari starting at Nkwali Camp for two nights. Guests will then transfer to Nsefu for three nights, and the safari will end with four nights at Kutandala. The transfer to Kutandala Camp in the North Luangwa is by light aircraft. The park is very remote and wild - a place for real bush lovers to visit. Made of reed, grass and poles, and taking only six guests, the camp is intimate and natural.
As well as the walking safaris there is the chance for an all day drive to the confluence of Mwaleshi and Luangwa rivers from the North Luangwa Walking Trail. Excursions can also be made to the Chipopoma Falls where there are clear water pools for a dip.
