Sindabezi Island Camp

Sindabezi exterior
  • Rustic and open to the elements
  • Perfect for honeymooners and small groups
  • Close to nature and resource sustainable

Sindabezi Island is an idyllic bush camp set on a private island in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River, just upstream from the Victoria Falls and a short boat ride from its sister property, Tongabezi Lodge, in Zambia.

The main dining area is set on an elevated deck up in the trees and the lounge spills out onto the star gazing deck which overlooks the river and the hippos wallowing nearby.

There are 5 exclusive cottages scattered around the tiny island, one of which looks across the river towards Zimbabwe, the others face Zambia. They are open-sided thatched cottages, letting in the sights and sounds of the African bush. The twin or king beds are draped with mosquito netting, the en-suite bathrooms have outdoor showers and double vanities and the quaint sitting areas open out to the balcony, with the emphasis on total remote seclusion.

View game from the comfort of the cottages, or from the secluded mokoro deck, which is tucked away at the end of island. Hippo and elephant are regularly seen at Sindabezi Island Camp. There's also a resident pels fishing owl and whitefronted bee-eaters nest in the banks under the dining area.

Activities at Sindabezi Island Camp include sunrise and sunset boat trips, afternoon canoeing, fishing, bird walks, a visit to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls and a visit to Livingstone town and its 2 museums.

Sindabezi Island Camp is ideal for families or a small party looking for complete privacy and is particularly good value. Taking the island privately ensures a private guide, boat and vehicle.
