The River Club is situated on the Zambian banks of the Zambezi River, just 18km upstream from the famous Victoria Falls.
This owner run lodge is located on a magnificent vantage point, overlooking a sweeping bend of the river. The angled wood beam ceilings, dark wood furnishings and the ornate fireplace give the lounge and dining area a rich Colonial atmosphere. This typically Edwardian style home with its corrugated iron roof and strong pillars, opens out to a wide veranda with views over the manicured gardens and the bubbling river.
The 10 luxurious chalets are spread out amongst the riverine vegetation, each with one side which is completely open to the river, offering uninterrupted views of the Zambezi and the glorious African sunsets. The king or twin beds are lavishly draped with mosquito netting and the en-suite bathrooms have concertina screen doors or windows, allowing for exceptional views from the privacy of the ball and claw bath tubs.
The sitting areas are furnished in minimal, stylish lines, with the wooden flooring extending out to the private viewing decks. The unique shape and style of the rim flow pool make it seem to be part of the mighty Zambezi River itself, with its secluded deck of hammocks and loungers surrounded by manicured lawns. Tennis, croquet and the use of a fully equipped wellness centre, sauna and mini gym on site.
Just across the river is the Zambezi National Park, so you can often spot elephant and hippo, as well as the area's rich bird population. Your stay at The River Club includes all meals, local drinks, fishing excursions, sundowner boat trips, visits to Livingstone Town and the railway museum, a visit to a local African Village and a tour of the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side.
The Victoria Falls is one of the 'Wonders of the World' and is arguably the greatest waterfall anywhere. Daily excursions to the Falls are a highlight and boating trips to the Zambezi River's islands provide wonderful activities. Fishing and sundowner trips are offered, as are daily visits to the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park for White Rhino and other game. Trips to the Livingstone and Railway Museums and a nearby African village are also offered. Other activities available at extra cost include: white water rafting, river surfing, bungi jumping, abseiling, parachuting, microlight and helicopter flights over the Falls, horse riding and canoeing.
