Maliba Mountain Lodge
Located in the Royal Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho within the Tsehlanyane National Park, Maliba Mountain Lodge is a 5-star mountain retreat set in a pristine sub-alpine wilderness valley deep in the heart of Lesotho's breathtaking mountains. Maliba Mountain Lodge is the first lodge of ots kind in Lesotho and it has set the benchmark for future Lesotho Tourism ventures. Over 5600 hectares of extremely rugged wilderness mountain terrain is protected within this park, which includes one of the very few remaining indigenous woodlands in Lesotho. Unlike most of Lesotho, the park has plenty of remnant vegetation dominated by mature Che Che trees all of which has historical significance to the Basotho people.
Accommodation comprises of six exclusive luxury Basotho-style chalets, each offering private viewing decks stretching deep into the heart of the scenic woodland mountains. Three of the chalets have double beds, two have two single beds, and there is also one Honeymoon Suite. The lodge aims to create a warm atmosphere and this is expressed by under-floor heating, heated-bed blankets, heated towel rails and heated wall panels which create a comfortable living environment for guests. The highlight of the design element of each of the chalets is the open fireplace found in each chalet which sets the evening mood. All the chalets have private en suite bathrooms with a sunken bath offering amazing views. The main lodge facilities include a restaurant serving an array of gourmet meals, a bar, and a secluded plunge pool.
Maliba Lodge offers guests a range of activities including hiking on one of three nature trails, horse riding on local Lesotho ponies, swimming in natural springs, bird watching, rock-climbing and village and cultural tours. Snow activities can be organized though the Lodge at Afri-ski.
