Nestled in the heart of the Timbavati game reserve, the award winning Tanda Tula is the oldest and most established camp in the area, having been in the Hugo family for generations.
Only twelve stylish and elevated tented suites are shaded in by tall trees. Each well spaced tent is ensuite with private balconies overlooking the riverbed which is well traversed by the resident game. Bathrooms are stylishly complete with a Victorian bath. The camp's shared infinity pool offers a welcome respite from the heat of the day and in the afternoon superbly trained rangers and trackers unlock the wonders of the Timbavati.
The only camp to offer walking safaris where you walk from the main camp to an elevated platform camp to enjoy a night or two sleeping under the stars, Tanda Tula also offers Elephant research experiences and visits to the research centre.
We like this camp because not only is the service unsurpassed but because it is a real pleasure to experience the wilderness from a tent. The sounds of the night, the stars up ahead and the smell of dew in the morning just cant be appreciated as easily in room made from bricks and mortar.
