Kruger National Park and Mpumalanga Province
Although Mpumalanga has some of the most beautiful mountain ranges, the province is dominated by the Kruger National Park and the adjacent private game reserves of Sabi Sabi, Timbavati and Manyeleti - all home to the Big Five and many other animals. Before or after a wildlife experience in the game reserves, the eastern Drakensberg is a wonderful contrast where you can hike, ride, explore mountain bike trails and visit old gold mines from the early pioneering days.
This is Jock of the Bushveld country and, in delightful pioneer-style towns such as Barberton, you can see many memorials of this legendary dog. North of Pilgrims Rest, a replica of an old gold mining village, is the magnificent Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world.
