Gorah Elephant Camp

Gorah Exterior Gorah Lounge
  • An authentic tented Safari experience
  • Fantastic wildlife viewing
  • In the heart of the Garden route

Gorah Elephant Camp is situated on a private concession in the malaria-free, ‘Big 5’ Addo Elephant National Park, home to the densest elephant population in the world. The Gorah House has been restored to its 19th century colonial splendour and is a true reflection of nostalgic opulence amid the mystique of an authentic safari experience.

The two gracious lounges open out to the wide verandah and are warmed by crackling fireplaces and the library has a classic collection of books donated by guests from all over the world. Delicious gourmet cuisine is served in the elegant candle-lit dining room or on the old-style verandah overlooking the waterhole. Alfresco dining can be enjoyed at the thatched boma with its enchanting rock swimming pool and sun-drenched decks.

The 11 luxurious tented suites are privately placed and are set on raised wooden platforms, sheltered beneath thatched canopies. Within the safari canvas, these spacious suites are exquisitely furnished in a combination of colonial nostalgia and modern sophistication. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, solar-powered lights, ceiling fans and a communication system with the main House. The interior relaxation area leads out to a private deck offering panoramic views across the endless savannah plains.

We have always sent clients to Gorah as the camp has such a great feel to it and the staff are all very attentive and wonderful hosts.
