Journey Idea Outline
Day 1: Fly from London to Cape Town.
Day 2: Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel, Constantia Uitsig. Enjoy a city tour including a cable car trip to enjoy the incredible views from Table Mountain.
Day 3: A full day tour of the Cape Peninsula including a boat cruise to Seal Island, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. Dine at Mama Africa, with live African music and a chance to try crocodile!
Day 4: Drive to Stellenbosch, the heartbeat of the South African Winelands. En route visit the township of Kayamandi and learn to play the African drums. Explore Stellenbosch including a visit to the endangered cats at the Cheetah Outreach Centre.
Day 5: This morning you will fly to Nanyuki and then drive on to Hermanus, renowned as the best land based whale watching location in the world. Continue on to the private nature reserve of Grootbos.
Day 6: Enjoy the incredible Cape coast with whale watching, coastal walks, beach excursions, Great White Shark encounters, horse-riding and 4x4 drives on the reserve. Children are especially well catered for with their children's program.
Day 7: Drive to Swellendam, with prime examples of Cape settler architecture and enjoy lunch at Mossel Bay. Drive over the scenic Robinson Pass to Oudtshoorn and De Opstal, a beautifully converted South African farm before visiting a local ostrich farm.
Day 8: Drive to the coast, then board a ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve for lunch and a trip to the top of the giant cliffs.
Day 9: Visit the Knysna Elephant Park to meet the orphaned elephants. Continue to Monkeyland, where rescued monkeys roam free in the forest around you and Birds of Eden the largest free flight aviary in the world.
Day 10: Drive via Storms River to the private game reserve of Kariega, home to lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino, as well as giraffe, zebra, hippo, hyena and wildebeest. Enjoy an open vehicle game drive this afternoon before returning to camp for dinner.
Day 11 to 12: Enjoy early morning and early evening game drives, river cruises, hikes, game viewing on mountain bikes or canoeing safaris on the Kariega River.
Day 13: A final morning excursion before your transfer to Port Elizabeth airport for your onward flight to London via Johannesburg.
