The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean half way between Africa and India, some 1,500 kilometres east of mainland Africa & northeast of the island of Madagascar. The Seychelles are a living museum of natural history and a sanctuary for some of the rarest species of flora & fauna on earth. The small distances between the islands makes it the ideal island hopping holiday option.

Illona has been travelling to the Seychelles since she was a child growing up in South Africa. She has snorkeled around Praslin, met the local Seychellois in the markets of Victoria and savoured the delights of various resorts and island hotels of the inner and outer islands. Traditionally, the better resorts have been based on the larger northern islands, such as Mahe and Praslin, with their high mountain ranges. However, more emphasis is being placed on the smaller southern islands which have benefited from the recent opening of some very luxurious smaller hotels offering a quieter and more personal atmosphere.
