Virunga Lodge
Virunga Lodge is set on a stunning hillside with breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes and Lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. Virunga Lodge offers a wonderful and distinctive location and provides a high level of comfort whilst at the same time taking into consideration the natural surroundings and environment of Parc National des Volcans.
Virunga Lodge consists of eight large, private bandas. There is no running water but there are wonderful hot bush showers to revive you after your gorilla tracking. The lodge itself has terraced gardens, with a exquisite sunken paradise garden as their focal point.
Activities available from the lodge include trekking the Visoke or Karisimbi volcanoes, searching golden monkeys and a visit the remains of the Karisoke Centre which Dian Fossey founded. A gentle strolls around the picturesque villages near the lakes is the perfect after a day of gorilla tracking. Virunga Lodge is situated just three hours drive from Kigali or a long day's drive from Kampala and can now be reached by helicopter transfer.
