Gorilla's Nest Lodge
Gorilla's Nest Lodge is located at the base of the Virunga Mountains and close to the Parc National des Volcans. The lodge is in a beautiful setting and ideally situated for exploration of the Parc National des Volcans.
The Lodge itself has been built under a grove of trees with the rooms set around a large courtyard. Each of the 20 rooms are comfortably appointed with en-suite facilities and look outwards into the Eucalyptus forest and pyrethrum farms beyond. There are also two suites available. There is a spacious restaurant with a large bar and reception area, built in safari/savannah style so does get cold in the evenings. There is no electricity in the vicinity, so the lodge operates a generator. The grass thatched roofs are developed in traditional Rwandese style, not the "rustic luxury safari" style of East and Southern Africa.
Gorilla's Nest Lodge is the closest in the area to the National Park - on a clear day the views across to the volcanoes and surrounding area is spectacular - and is less than a 20 minute drive to where the gorilla trekking begins. In addition there is a traditional Rwandese homestead nearby for visitors to visit in their leisure time or after Gorilla trekking.
