Schoeman’s Skeleton Coast safaris

Schoeman’s Skeleton Coast safaris flying

Skeleton Coast safaris are operated by the Schoeman family of Namibia and have been going since 1977. One, of four, of the Schoeman brothers will host you on this exclusive safari into remotest Namibia. He will be your guide, your pilot, your driver and your captain on the Kunene River and their knowledge of the area is unparraled having grown up in this desolute but fascinating area.Their father is responsible for the protection of the Skeleton Coast by creating the National Park.

The safaris aim to create an introduction to the scenic and ecological aspects of the environment of the Skeleton Coast Park, Namib-Naukluft Park, western Damaraland and western Kaokoland and other undeveloped and remote wilderness areas of Namibia. The key features of the safaris are the use of the aircraft as a safari vehicle. The flights aim to achieve a completely different level of safari experience and provide an outstanding bird's-eye view of some of the wonders of this region of Namibia. Including the diverse and ever-changing geological rock formations and the refuges of desert-dwelling animals such as the endangered black rhino and desert-adapted elephant.

Accommodation  is in three privately owned camps. All of the camps are comfortable and well equipped and each is positioned in a carefully selected location to allow the best views of the areas unique beauty. The tents all have en suite bucket showers.  The food offered during the camping safari includes fresh fruit and vegetables, soft drinks, fruit juices and a ample range of alcoholic beverages.  The camp is also able to allow for any special dietary needs.

The first of the camps is situated in the lower reaches of the Huab River in Damaraland. The second is under stunning Camelthorn trees and Makalani palms in the Hoarusib Valley in Kaokoland allow a perfect shelter for the warm Namibian days. The third camp is on the northwestern Namibian border overlooking the Kunene River, a brilliant location for relaxing by the river and taking in the surrounding beauty. These camps offer nature at its best, and create the feeling of a true African wilderness experience.

Activities from the camps include overland safaris by Land Rover to introduce the area and the surrounding scenery and what it has to offer.
