Kulala Desert Lodge

Kulala Desert Lodge exterior Kulala Desert Lodge interior

Kulala Desert Lodge is situated by a unique private entrance to Namib Naukluft Park allowing it to be the closest to Sossusvlei dunes. The privately owned lodge is small and exclusive, ensuring personal attention in a charming African style setting of clay and thatch.

The camp has fifteen stylish and comfortable thatched and canvas kulalas, which means "to sleep" in the local Oshiwambo language. Each of the kulalas is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has its own private en suite bathrooms along with a private rooftop balcony which provides the perfect place from which to take in the Namib Desert’s endless scenery or to sleep under the myriad stars that Namibia's clear skies portray. The main facilities at the lodge include a lounge, bar, dining area, plunge pool, and wrap-around veranda overlooking the waterhole, a great spot to take in the Namibian desert vista. The lodge’s decor is inspired by Northern Africa, everything is made to feel very natural and warm to delight the senses.  From the verandah or the swimming pool terrace, Kulala Desert Lodge allows the opportunity to sample delicious French cuisine served al fresco while watching the wildlife at the waterhole.

The activities available at Kulala Desert Lodge aim to showcase the magnificent landscapes in which Namib Naukluft Park has to offer. These include hot air ballooning, private tours to Sossusvlei dunes, scenic nature drives and horse riding.
