Huab Lodge

Huab exterior Huab Lodge pool

Huab Lodge began as an idea to generate funds to save the desert-dwelling elephant from being hunted. Since 1992 awareness has increased, as has tourism and the "value" of the elephant is changing.  The original farmland is a small, unique area called Monte Carlo which boasts stunning views bisected by the mostly dry Huab River.

The lodge has eight spacious stone and thatch bungalows which are spread along the elevated north bank of the river ensuring private and magnificent views. Each of the bungalows has two king sized beds, its own private en suite bathroom with, two hand-wash basins, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and a shower and also a large private patio. The unique main building at Huab Lodge has an enormous thatch roof with open sides which manages to blend well into its surroundings.

Due the Lodges great location it allows the opportunity to explore as much as little as needs be. After breakfast go on a drive in the 8,000 hectare private nature reserve and find out more about the fascinating aspects of life out there. Alternatively there are the wide range of walking and hiking safaris offered from the lodge, visiting areas such as the Twyfelfontein Area where there is the chance to visit the famous rock art, the amazing rock formations and the dramatic scenery. There are also a number of local settlements near the lodge including the Damara and the Himba, which can be visited to enable a better understanding of desert life.
