North Mozambique

Vamizi cave wall, Northern Mozambique

Northern Mozambique can be seen to be one of the world's last true wildernesses. The Querimba Archipelago is formed by 27 islands between Pemba, which is the port capital of the Cabo Delgado region, and the Rio Rovuma, the river that forms the border with Tanzania. With pristine white beaches, palms, sand dunes, inland lakes and all surrounded by crystal clear waters Northern Mozambique offers a vast selection for the intrepid traveller. In addition to the stunning scenery offered, it also boasts the mammoth Niassa Reserve, which is twice the size of Kruger Park in South Africa and is home to a wide selection of wildlife including elephant, sable antelope, lion, leopard, spotted hyena and the elusive African wild dog. To the north of Pemba, inquisitive elephants stroll right up to the beach. The newly created Quirimbas National Park offers abundant opportunity to spot the infamous African fish eagle while kayaking along the tapered waterways of the traditional African mangroves. Travel to Northern Mozambique and discover a remote and beautiful paradise that is one of the last undiscovered jewels of Africa.

Accomodation surrounding Mozambique is plentiful due to the vast array of islands along the Querimba Archipelago. From Guludo Beach Lodge offering a stunning 'loo with a view' making barefoot luxury feel more indulgent than ever. To the more environmentally friendly Moja Safari Wilderness which is one of the first ecotourism concessions within the Niassa Reserve in Northern Mozambique. The stunning islands along the archipelago of Northern Mozambique definately offer the African traveller a vast selection of accomodation, from the pure luxurious lodges and resorts to the more traditional smaller boutique hotels and wilderness retreats.
