Mkulumadzi sits on the confluence of two rivers, shaded by giant leadwood trees and wild mangoes, within the Majete Wildlife Reserve. Arriving via footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River, you arrive in the main area of the camp which is right on the river and has a feeling of space and nature. With plenty of areas to relax in there is also a shaded swimming pool area looking over the river.

Guests can relax in luxury and isolation in one of eight private chalets. There are five double or twin chalets, one honeymoon chalet and two family chalets. All of them are extremely spacious with a lovely large open decked area to relax and enjoy the beautiful river view, furnished with locally sourced materials giving them a very contemporary feel. All eight chalets have an inside lounge area tea and coffee facilities and house a fridge for drinks.

During your stay at Mkulumadzi, you can do morning or afternoon game drives, walking safaris, boating safaris. You can take a drive to the hide over looking a waterhole for a sundowner where you might see elephants, buffalo and possibly even rhino. Sitting within the Majete Wildlife Reserve guests can appreciate and witness a 10 year long restoration of the reserve which is still underway.

The last ten years has seen extensive reintroduction of game following poaching during the 1980s and 1990s. So far elephants, rhino, zebra and antelope have all been successfully reintroduced and in October 2011 leopard were added, with more due in 2012. The next phase is to re-home lions from South Africa into the park. This will be an exciting year for Majete as it will soon be able to boast the Big 5 and at Mkulumadzi you can enjoy this area of bush all to yourselves in perfect luxury!
