Manafiafy Beach and Rainforest Lodge
Set on the South East coast of Madagascar on a sheltered, forest fringed bay, Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge has just six spacious bungalows, offering barefoot luxury in a tranquil setting.Located just two and a half hour’s drive or a 20 minute flight from Fort Dauphin, Manafiafy is a sleepy fishing village steeped in history.
The bungalows, which are constructed of local stone and mangrove poles and situated under a palm thatched roof, are all discreetly tucked into the forest, just a few feet from the calm blue waters of the sheltered bay. The lodge is entirely powered by solar energy, all bungalows are en-suite with hot and cold running water, showers, mosquito nets and a safe in the room. There are 4 beach bungalows with double beds and 2 family bungalows which can sleep 2 adults and 3 children in two partitioned rooms. The lodge offers a host of activities which include swimming, snorkeling day and night walks in the littoral rainforest, trips into the mangroves and wetlands by motorboat, whale watching from the observation tower, canoeing in the mangroves, boat trips to the nearby islands for a picnic lunch and visits to the local market and village school. This is a rewarding wildlife region, but there will also be time to relax and enjoy a few hours on a sunbed and a swim in the ocean.
