Domaine Nature Lodge
Domaine Nature is located in Ranomafana, a small spa town in the Southern Madagascan hills near the Namorana River. The region features superb scenery, dominated by the white-water River Namorona, and is famed for its twelve species of lemur, including three species of Bamboo lemur.
Domaine Nature is a real rainforest lodge right in the midst the forest.
The lodge has are twenty naturally created bungalows, ten of which are situated on the steep hill overlooking the thundering Namorona River. The other ten are on the other side of the main road also on a steep hill with great views. All of the bungalows have private en suite bathrooms with a shower and toilet and private, wooden balconies which are perfect for relaxing after a strenuous afternoon walking in the hills. The main facilities at the lodge include a reception area and restaurant located near the main road offering a great vibe and local good food.
There is a good system of trails in and around Ranomafana which make it a great place for trekking. It is also arguably one of the best rainforest birding locations in Madagascar with Brown Mesites, Pitta-like Ground-rollers, Velvet Asitys, Yellow-browed Oxylabes and Pollens Vanga.
