The Domaine de Fontenay
The Domaine de Fontenay is a fabulous property, located on the slopes of Amber Mountain National Park in rich tropical forest surroundings. The Domaine de Fontenay was formerly the colonial residence of the De Fontenay family and has now been lovingly restored and converted into a beautifully stylish hotel.
The hotel has eight rooms in what were formerly the stable blocks and a suite in the main house. Each of the rooms is very spacious with lots of wooden features and soft furnishings, they have a separate bedroom area with mosquito netting and a radio to relax in the afternoons. The main facilities include a restaurant and bar which are located in the main house, the dining room has a colonial feel with white linen and crystal glasses set in front of an impressive stone fireplace. Next to the gardens is the Fontenay reserve, a massive private reserve with rich Flora and Fauna, and several small waterfalls. The Domaine de Fontenay also has a powerful telescope for star gazing, and this is an ideal location given both its height above sea level and the low light pollution.
Guided walks into the reserve by day or night can be arranged to allow the opportunity to explore the area and the properties expert guides have an intimate knowledge of the reserve and its history so finding particular species is relatively easy. The property is a great place to relax, unwind and explore in colonial style comfort.
