Princesse Bora Lodge
Sainte Marie is one of the most popular beach holiday locations Madagascar has to offer. Along its coral-fringed coast are several hotels including the Princesse Bora. Secluded coves, relaxed islanders and balmy Indian Ocean island ambience contribute to Sainte Marie's magic. Whale watching in July to September is a highlight. Princesse Bora is a privately owned eco lodge located in a large palm tree grove at the edge of a lagoon.
The accomodation consists of a number of elegantly styled Octagonal villas, each offering an elegant and naturally styled decor. Each of the spacious villas has an enamelled private en suite bathroom, suspended double bed and a large wooden terrace. The main facilities include a restaurant which produces a mix of regional culinary delights, influenced by Creole, French and Malagasy specialities, along with a fine collection of French, South African and local wines. The lodge also has a luxurious jungle spa which is designed to blend it with the natural surroundings and offer complete peace and relaxation.
The lodge sits behind a beautiful white beach from where there is the option to take part in a variety of water-based activities such as diving and wake boarding. On land there are all sorts of adventures from quad biking to nature walks. Princesse Bora Lodge is also home to the International Association of Whale Protection, Megaptera. Allowing the unique opportunity to take part in research with the team, go out on their boats to watch and research the whales. The Whales stay close to Sainte Marie Island between June and September when they come to give birth and bring their young up before heading south.
