Cottar's 1920's Camp
Cottar's 1920's Camp is within a vast exclusive concession area. The Cottar's safari tradition began in 1919, when Chas Cottar and his sons began outfitting quality adventure safaris. 90 years on this idyllic tradition continues. Cottar's Camp is designed using the 1920's era, allowing guests to experience the original spirit and essence of a safari, an era based on romance, professional guiding, adventure and elegance.
The Camps accommodation comprises of spacious, white canvas tents, which are luxuriously furnished with original safari antiques from the 1920's. Each of the tents has private en suite bathrooms, dressing rooms, livings rooms, main bedrooms and private veranda offering wondering views of the regions flora and fauna. The main facilities at the camp include a large mess style tent, which offers a unique experience and houses a dining area serving the best of local 1920’s safari inspired cuisine. There is also the option to sit out and enjoy the sights of the African sky and the distant sounds of the amazing wildlife that are in the vicinity.
Activities from the camp are led by a team of professional guides, led by Calvin Cottar, the fourth generation to continue the tradition of Cottar's Safari Service. The game drives are focused around the 1920's style and use vehicles and 4-wheel drive Land cruisers from the era. Night game drives, guided bush walks, mobile camping, walking safaris, bush breakfasts and sundowners, massage and aromatherapy, river fishing & swimming are also offered.
