Mfangano Island Camp

Mfangano Island Views Mfangano Island room

Lapped by the waters of Lake Victoria, shaded by giant fig trees and lost to the world, Mfangano Island Camp is an oasis of tranquility and an ideal retreat from the hustle of the modern world. Lake Victoria, the world's second largest freshwater lake, is a magical source of the Nile and Mfangano Island Camp is set on a secluded bay on the island.

The camp comprises of six double rooms, all offering spectacular vistas across the lake, are tastefully decorated in the Luo tribal style of thatch and clay. Each of the rooms has a private en suite bathroom which is finished in local stone and also offers a private veranda with sun-beds and is set close to the water's edge, decorated with local handicrafts. The main facilities at the camp include a dining area serving the freshest seafood caught from the lake and vegetables picked from the island’s vegetable gardens and orchards.

Activities available include fishing, allowing the chance to catch the infamous giant Nile perch. Day trips from Mfangano Island Camp are arranged, but relaxing on the jetty and taking in the spectacular sunsets as the sun sinks beneath the Lake is also a viable way to spend the days.
