Kenya Horseback Safaris

Kenya Horseback

A horse safari is a unique experience for those who would combine the pleasures of long distance riding with a love for the wild and the thrill of an African safari. An adventure which allows you to experience Kenyan wildlife, scenery and culture at close quarters.

The main attraction of a horse safari is the joy of riding good horses over superb country, with just about every landscape dotted with game. The riding is varied, sometimes quietly walking, stalking big game and admiring the bird life, sometimes cantering through the water-meadows alongside galloping giraffe and lechwe.

We can tailor an itinerary to suite novice riders to experienced riders, from an entire horseriding safari to the occasional horseride on a traditional 4x4 safari.

Horseback safaris are organised through various camps & lodges. There are options available for novices or experienced riders throughout the country.

Borana Lodge - Samangua Valley: Riding safaris can range from a day in the saddle to a weeks safari depending on your
requirements. Guests can ride through the plains at the foot of the escarpment among giraffe, hartebeest and impala or into the forest that cloaks the foot of Mt Kenya. Guests are welcome to stick and ball at the North Kenya Polo Club.

Ol Donyo Wuas - Mbirikani Maasai Conservation Area: Guests are able to choose between luxury mobile horse safaris, or staying at Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge and riding out from there each day.
