Kurift Resort and Spa
The Kuriftu Resort and Spa is a new development on the shores of Lake Tana. This resort looks more like an upmarket African lodge than a typical Ethiopian hotel with attractive stone rooms, shaggy thatched roofs and wood framed window and doors. Most of the terraces overlook the gardens or the lake. Each room is dominated by a large four-poster bed which can be converted into a twin. The toilet and shower rooms are separate and on suite. I particularly liked the large daybed on the terrace and the fact that you can keep the mosquitoes out at night with a large mosquito net and air conditioning. The dining room is minimalistic and decorated in earthy shades with views of the lake and an extensive deck and jetty. The entire complex is navigated by small paths crossing over man made streams. There is a pool and a very well equipped Spa. I can recommend this hotel at the end of your trip to unwind, wash off the dust and enjoy the view, the people and the coffee.
