Nxai Pan National Park lies at the northern edge of the ancient lake Makgadikgadi basin. This 40 square kilometre fossil lake bed was once part of the great lake that covered central Botswana. It is a harsh and desolate landscape providing an overwhelming sense of isolation and an extremely rewarding wilderness experience.

Nxai Pan is the first permanent camp within the boundaries of Nxai Pan National Park with just eight rooms. It runs 100% on solar power. The camp is built in a horseshoe shape, maximising the fantastic vistas across the open savannah which includes an active waterhole.

The main area is large and spacious, built on a slightly raised deck leading down to the fire-pit. The feeling here is of open space. The light and airy rooms are elegantly furnished, and are constructed from eco-friendly materials keeping them cool in the summer and warm in winter.

From November to April the rains create a magnificent green desert experience and the area fills with game from the Chobe and the Okavango delta. During the rest of the year it becomes a desert and only the animals adapted to the conditions remain.

The famous Baines' Baobabs which overlook Kudiakam Pan are a spectacular sight and the night skies are phenomenal. When combined with the lily-dappled Okavango Delta, the sheer diversity of Botswana is evident.
