  • A great wildlife viewing camp, especially in the months of June to October
  • Stunning environment with excellent game viewing and birding
  • Family friendly with new family tents
  • Excellent game hides near the camp

Duma Tau camp is being reborn, a little further away from the original camp it will have two family rooms with interconnecting options, great for those travelling with children. We hope the charm of the original camp will remain, with a bit of an upgrade on the amenities.

The name DumaTau derives from the native language that means 'roar of the lion'. DumaTau Camp consists of tents located in the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve which borders onto the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. It is shaded by a grove of mangosteen trees overlooking a large hippopotamus filled lagoon. Duma Tau has ten luxurious tented rooms which are raised off the ground and allow full enjoyment of the night sounds of Africa from the comfort of your bed. All the rooms have a private en suite bathroom and an outdoor shower, for a true wilderness experience. The main facilities include a large dining room, pub, lounge, plunge pool and a very unique guest toilet with a fantastic view.

The region is well known for its wildlife diversity and its large elephant concentrations as they congregate along the waterways and lagoons during the dry winter months. Also during these dry months sable and roan traverse the flood plains. All the predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog feast on the prey species in the area, which include impala, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, lechwe, tsessebe and more.

Activities from Duma Tau camp are varied and include day and night game drives along the Savuti Channel and the banks of Linyanti River as well as visits to the nearby local hides where close up wildlife viewing can be enjoyed. One of the best hides in the area is right at the source of the Savuti and many species of wildlife and birdlife can usually be seen.

Duma Tau camp can easily be combined with camps in the Okavango Delta and Moremi area, making for a great six or seven night itinerary.
