Some of Europes most uncrowded beaches are to be found on the "Coast of Light" - stretching from Gibraltar to the south of Portugal in the north of the region. Popular with the Spanish in the summer, the area is sleepy out of season and still relatively undeveloped. It offers an ideal mix of beach and culture with some of Andalucias most interesting and historical villages, towns and cities nearby. For birdwatchers, the Donana National Park is on the migration route and is Spains largest wildlife reserve.
