Richard and Mouse Poynton arrived back in sunny South Africa in 1997 and embarked on their project - Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. They have developed a gourmet getaway with six luxurious en suite double/twin rooms and 2 spacious suites with queen beds and separate lounges.
Attention to detail is evident everywhere at the Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse. The dining room and lounge is cantilevered over a trout-filled dam, with views of the stunning mountains. An underground wine cellar - well stocked with South African premier wines - adds to the magic. The menu changes every evening according to the seasons and availability of the local produce. Dinner is a sumptuous 6-course affair with no effort or expense spared, to give guests a memorable dining experience. Breakfasts are unusual and exciting. Lunch is by arrangement - a picnic basket can be organised.
