Chikwenya is a luxury-tented lodge set in a beautiful position in Mana Pools National Park. Overlooking the confluence of the Zambezi and Sapi Rivers with open flood plains dotted with acacia trees in the foreground and the Rift Valley Mountains as a backdrop, Chikwenya is a photographer?s dream. The area is well known for its abundant wildlife. Elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, crocodile and many others congregate nearby and even the elusive leopard is regularly sighted. The birdlife also is excellent and includes several rarities such as the Angola pitta. The camp has nine fabulous tented suites with thatched roofs, polished wooden floors and luxurious en-suite bathrooms. Each suite is raised above ground level and supplies the unbeatably decadent safari experience of watching game from the comfort of one?s bed. The camp chefs are superb and guests are presented with a never ending array of delicious food, from home baked scones and elaborate breakfasts to candlelit three course dinners. Game viewing from 4x4 vehicles, boats and canoes is superb, although walking safaris in these stunning surroundings are probably the best option.
