In the remote northern region of Malawi there are two contrasting reserves - the Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve. These two reserves contain the finest scenery, wildlife and wilderness areas to be found in the country. The high mountain Nyika Plateau is vast, beautiful and tranquil - and beneath the plateau lies the rugged hot bushveld of the Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve. With such varied habitat a large number of animal species can be seen and over 500 species of birds have been recorded between the two reserves. During the summer months the wildflowers that carpet the grasslands are a sight to behold.
Chelinda Lodge, which has 8 luxury cabins, is high on the Nyika Plateau offering some of the best walking and horseback safaris where one can have incredible sightings of Roan Antelope, leopard, hyena and much more.
