Camp Jabulani offers South Africa's first dedicated elephant experience, a two-day programme in which you get to bond with your elephant before hopping on it's back. Once you're up there, an elephant safari gives you the chance to watch game, including lion, at very close quarters.

When you're not straddling your elephant as it bulldozes a tree, you'll be whiling away your time on the terrace of your private lodge. Owner Lente Roode decided to go organic and dispense with architects. The walls at Camp Jabulani have been plastered with a textural straw finish, and decorated with marula pips and pebbles.

At Camp Jabulani you can drink your morning coffee while gazing at the bush from under a deep, soft duvet. and spot wildlife from your plunge pool. While at Camp Jabulani, you may also visit Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and the cheetah project set up by the owner.
