Caiman Ecological Refuge is located in the southern Pantanal, 236kms west of Campo Grande and is surrounded by its own 130,000 acre cattle ranch. The accommodation consists of four different lodges. The largest with 11 rooms is the Sede Lodge which used to be the ranch owner's former residence and is built in a colonial style. Located in the centre of the refuge it is nearest to the farm and the Hyacinth Macaw Project. The Baiazinha Lodge has 6 rooms and is 9kms from the Sede lodge, built on stilts next to a clear water lagoon which is good for bird spotting. The Cordilheira Lodge has 6 rooms and is also built on stilts and from the sitting room you can often see animals in the dry season and wading birds in the wet season. Piuva Lodge is just 1 km away from the main lodge and also has 6 rooms decorated with local handicrafts made by the Kadweu indians.
All the Caiman Ecological Refuge lodges have rooms with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning, a swimming pool restaurant and living room.
