Botswana Honeymoon

A vast land, Botswana is highly prized for its safaris and game and boasts the highest percentage of landmass designated to wildlife worldwide! A country of stark contrasts, the endless semi-desert of the Kalahari is relieved by one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, the Okavango Delta. This spectacular Delta region has been well developed for tourism with its impressive lagoons crammed with hovering birdlife, elephants, giraffes and other exotic animals. Visitors can enjoy some truly fantastic game viewing, while staying in luxurious and romantic accommodation. Most Botswana safaris start or end at Victoria Falls with its staggering views and abundance of cultural and thrill seeking activities on offer in the surrounding area.

Botswana Honeymoon Camps

Chief's Camp
A luxury bush lodge perched on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession or the Moremi Game Reserve.

The lodge has been cleverly integrated into the surrounding wilderness and viewing dog, lion, cheetah and leopard in their natural habitat, can often be achieved without even leaving your tent! Twelve secluded tents each feature en suite facilities and private game viewing deck.

Chief's Camp is one of the few camps in the Okavango Delta from where you can see the "Big Five" and expert guides are on hand to lead daily excursions either in 4x4 or dugout canoe. Return to camp to relax by the pool or, in the evening, by the fireside and enjoy fresh local produce, vintage wines and imported delicacies. For ultimate relaxation, spa treatments are available in high season.

Abu Camp
A unique opportunity to join an African elephant herd; to get to know each animal personally and to wander, largely unnoticed, with the herd as they pass grazing giraffe, zebra and antelope. Vehicle or canoe safaris are also available and in the evening talks will be given to enhance your wildlife experience.

Abu Camp offers a three night safari for up to 12 guests. Accommodation is in six stylishly, furnished tents with en suite bathrooms and private deck. The main deck weaves between the trees forming a shady viewing platform on which to enjoy your gourmet meals and sundowners.

For ultimate privacy stay at the Abu Elephant Villa (which sleeps up to four people) and is situated across the lagoon five minutes from camp. Villa guests enjoy their own butler, chef and guide as well as private pool. Guests can join the group or choose to venture out on their own private safari.

Vumbura Plains Camp
Situated in a private concession in the north of the Delta, this camp is surrounded by a variety of habitats, diverse wildlife and 55,000 hectares of stunning wilderness.

Vumbura Plains Camp comprises two separate seven-roomed camps, each with raised dining area, lounge and bar area tucked beneath a canopy of trees and with far reaching panoramic views across the savannah.

Raised off the ground on wooden decks, each spacious guest accommodation comprises a comfortable bedroom with sunken sala, en suite facilities with outdoor shower and private plunge pool.

Here you can enjoy both land and water activities based around game viewing on walks, mokors and boats. Every opportunity is given for close-up encounters with lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo and the prolific birdlife which makes this remote region of the Okavango its home.

Little Mombo Camp
Offering some of the best game viewing in Botswana, Little Mombo Camp shares the same island as its big brother Mombo Camp and offers the same high standard of luxury, on a more private basis.

With only three spacious tented en-suite rooms the camp enjoys a certain level of exclusivity with its own dining room, kitchen, lounge and plunge pool overlooking the plain in front of the camp. Morning and evening game drives venture out in search of big cats - lion sightings are particularly good - while leopard, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white rhino, hyaena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra all roam freely in the surrounding landscape.

Savuti Camp
Situated in a legendary predator's enclave, the intimate Savuti Camp is to be found in an isolated part of the Linyanti Concession in far northern Botswana. Here, during the dry season, the watering hole in front of the camp is the only water source for miles and therefore is visited by a high concentration of game.

Seven large en-suite tents are raised off the ground with views across the adjacent grassland, while game can also be viewed from the camp's thatched dining area, plunge pool and surrounding decking.

Day and night game drives are offered, guided nature walks are on request and well positioned hides allow for up-close animal viewing of the local sable, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

Jack's Camp
Furnished in traditional East African 1940's safari style this romantic camp creates an oasis of civilization in the vastness and isolation of the harsh Kalahari and Makgadikgadi pans. A safari here is a desert experience focusing on the wildlife, geology and archaeology of the region.

Ten very private classically styled tents are surrounded by decking and situated in a palm grove. Each has a beautiful bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers.

During the dry season you can take quad bikes into the salt pans. During the dry season you will be mesmerized as the salt pans transform beneath a cloud of bright pink flamingoes and other migratory birds, wildebeest and zebra during a period when the desert teems with game and predators.
