Botswana Family Holidays

A vast land, Botswana is highly prized for its safaris and game and boasts the highest percentage of landmass designated to wildlife worldwide! A country of stark contrasts, the endless semi-desert of the Kalahari is relieved by one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, the Okavango Delta. This spectacular Delta region has been well developed for tourism with its impressive lagoons crammed with hovering birdlife, elephants, giraffes and other exotic animals. Families can enjoy some truly fantastic game viewing, while staying in luxurious accommodation where in-house activities provide numerous distractions to keep your little ones amused! Most Botswana safaris end or start at the Victoria Falls with its staggering views and the abundance of cultural and thrill seeking activities on offer in the surrounding area.

Day 1

Day 2
Take your onward internal flight to Maun and to Seba Camp in the Okavango Delta.

Day 3
Set in an ancient riverine forest Seba Camp's luxurious tented accommodation (where special two bedroom family rooms are available) overlooks a lagoon teeming with animal and bird life. As well as the giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe on view, the camp is also a base for unique research on elephant behaviour and boasts a large elephant population. An exceptionally large pride of lions has also taken up residence nearby and their thrilling calls can be heard in the evenings! For bird enthusiasts, some 380 different species are found in the region.

A swimming pool is available for guests to enjoy during the hotter months.

Day 4
Fly to Chitabe Trails a comfortable five-roomed tented camp in an enormous concession, bordered on three sides by the Moremi Game Reserve. Once again two bedroom family rooms are available.

Day 5
A full day to enjoy Chitabe Trails. The area is surrounded by waterways and lagoons and a wide variety of wildlife can be seen. Experience game walks and day and night game drives where buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, reedbuck, lechwe, impala, zebra and hippo are among the major game attractions.

Day 6
Fly to Kasane and drive to Livingstone and the River Club. Situated 18km upstream from Victoria Falls on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, the River Club offers ten luxurious, thatched chalets (including two bedroom family accommodation) overlooking the Zambezi River. Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is arguably the greatest waterfall in the world. Daily trips to the Falls are a highlight while pontoon trips to the Zambezi River's islands provide relaxed afternoon activities. The Zambezi National Park is nearby and hippos are regularly sighted along the river's edge and lion calls often heard at night!

Day 7
A full day to enjoy the River Club and the surrounding area.

Day 8
This afternoon you will fly from Livingstone to Johannesburg before taking your overnight flight to Heathrow.

The cost of the above is from £3,299 per adult and from £2,995 per child. This cost includes your international and internal flights, transfers and accommodation as mentioned.

The above itinerary is more suited to older children but we can suggest many other family friendly camps for younger children in Botswana. At Lebala and Kwara Camps children get involved in special fun-filled activities and child supervision is on offer.

Alternatively, families can have exclusive use of the intimate six bedded Footsteps Camp in the Delta or the eight bedded Edo's Camp in the Kalahari giving them the opportunity to discover the wonders of the African wilderness together.
