The rediscovery of Machu Picchu

Hugh Thomson will be talking tonight, Monday 30 January at 6.30pm (members and one guest) at the Ondaatje Theatre, London as part of the Royal Geographical Soceity's Monday night lecture series.

The Inca city, sprawled across a remote ridge in Peru, was rediscovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham. Author Hugh Thomson celebrates Bingham’s extraordinary achievements as both an explorer and photographer. If you can't make it tonight this lecture is repeated at the City branch on 27 March 2012.

We still have a few places left on our In depth Peru group Tour departing in May, which is led by Hugh Thomson. Please contact Emma, our Peru specialist for more details on 01285 650 011.
