I think we all remember when 33 miners were trapped down a mine in the Atacama Desert back in October 2010. They were finally rescued after 69 days by Fenix 2, a steel capsule designed and built by the Chilean Navy which brought each miner back to the surface after days of drilling.
Less than 18 months on from their ordeal, the capsule is travelling the world to showcase this moment of glory for Chile, and will be on display at the Science Museum in London. Daubed in the red, white and blue of the Chilean flag, do take the opportunity to visit the museum from Saturday 11 February to 13 May 2012. Some may say that it is simply a metal tube, not very interesting in itself but it has such a fantastic story to tell and the Science Museum is the perfect place for it to be on show.
