Maldives, Soneva Gili, Hammock, Six Senses

After much planning and excitment I was off to re-visit some of the wonderful hotels in the Maldives.  Having visited before it was my tough task to return to this wonderful country to see how things had changed, refurbished and developed, however it was not to be.

After waking up on Thursday to the news of the volcano in Iceland our first thoughts were to our clients who may have been stranded.  Lucky for us and with hard work on the part of the consultants and our wonderful partners on the ground, everyone was being well looked after and I'm delighted all clients are now back home.  My following thoughts turned to 'I'm sure it will all have died down by Tuesday' when I was due to fly.  So, with much positive thinking I carried on getting ready for the trip.  By Tuesday everything looked a bit more hopeful, so much so that joined the bus from Cirencester to Heathrow with the plan to then join the bus to Gatwick. From here fly with British Airways to Male - all very exciting.

However it was not to be, I so felt for British Airways who were working desperately hard, trying to get flight to and from the UK but had to cancel Tuesdays flights and with it my dream to return to the Maldives.
