Mountain Biking in Peru

Last night I managed to catch up on part three, South America, of Mark Beaumont’s epic cycling adventure and what a finale!  Covering some 13,000 miles in some 8/9 months is really quite amazing.

After recently trekking through deep snow in Snowdonia, and completing a weekend of cycling,  I agree with Mark that you certainly use different muscles from climbing, trekking and hiking to riding a bike.  Something which seems so easy as a child seems somewhat daunting when you do not use the muscles as an adult. After just 9 measly miles in the saddle my muscles are certainly awake!

It really does bring home the challenge, with Mark sticking to around 100 miles a day and climbing though the majestic Andes and Rockies from Alaska down to Argentina – a true challenge.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the series and especially part three covering South America as this is where my specialist knowledge lies.
Conquering Aconcagua – what a challenge!

I am definitely inspired to get out on the bike more and explore some of the wonderful areas we have here in the UK.  However, if you are a keen cyclist, why not include a biking element to your next holiday.  I can organise some wonderful mountain biking in the Peruvian Andes or between Mendoza wineries in Argentina.

As the Steppes specialist for Ecuador, Peru, Chile & Argentina I have seen a lot of what  South America has to offer. I would love to help you create a holiday  to remember in this wonderful part of the world.
