I read in the newspaper at the weekend how scientists believe they have found the true source of the Amazon. The new source is in Southern Peru which makes the Amazon river 6,800km in length, so now, not only does the river have the largest volume of water in the world but it is also the longest in the world. The Nile is in second place at 6,695km in length.
