Mexico and
Guatemala,
Belize is a country of striking natural contrasts; mountainous forests, dense jungle, river wetlands and sandy beaches. Offshore, numerous small coral islands combine with the largest reef in the northern hemisphere to form some of the best underwater scenery in the world. On land, the country's wildlife is no less impressive. Jaguars and pumas are commonly seen in the forests while you will have a more than average chance of seeing ocelot, peccary, coatimundi, tapir and howler monkeys too. The jungle is also home to colourful toucans and noisy parrots, while the rivers swarm with kingfishers, herons and egrets. The country's fascinating history dates back to the mysterious
Mayan Civilisation whose fantastic buildings, temples and courtyards can still be explored deep in the jungle today. Today, Belize offers its visitor's; ancient ruins, stunning landscapes, fantastic wildlife and a unique mix of local people and culture, making for a fascinating and exciting family holiday destination.
