Tucked into a remote region of the Maya Mountains and overlooking the gentle rapids of the Privassion River, Blancaneaux Lodge has 20 sophisticated cabanas and villas.
Each palm-thatched cabana has an expansive wraparound sun deck, a Mexican-tiled bathroom with a Japanese style bathtub.
The two bedroom villas have vast open-sided lounge areas, kitchenettes and two en-suite bathrooms. In addition, there are two exceptional honeymoon cabanas with sweeping views across the falls and tropical gardens - both with mineral-salted plunge pools and furnished balconies.
The food at Blancaneaux Lodge is as individual as the decor, with most product coming from the hotel's own gardens. You can also enjoy the Blancaneaux cocktail while sitting at the Jaguar bar overlooking the river.
Why we like it
Rustic comfort in an outstanding setting. The food too is as unique as the décor with much of the fare being produced from the hotel. The Enchanted Cottage is a delightful private space, set away from the main area and has its own pool.
