If you love cities and you are short on time, then this is the itinerary for you as you can combine the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, Uruguay’s colonial Colonia de Sacramento and the party capital of Latin America, Rio de Janeiro.
Discover Buenos Aires, home to tango, fine wine and world class steak. With a private guide embark on a tour of the capital that earns the reputation as the Paris of South America. Explore the cobbled streets and colonial architecture of San Telmo. Visit the world-class museums and party in the trendy Palermo district or for a more bohemian feel explore the birth place of Tango in La Boca.
Depart Buenos Aires by hydrofoil across the River Plate to Uruguay for the day. Visit Colonia de Sacremento and its wonderful colonial centre.
Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil meet where the Iguazú River joins the Paraná River in the north-eastern province of Misones in Argentina. It is here that the Iguzu Falls plunge into a wide gorge in a series of gigantic waterfalls.
View the falls from both the Argentinean and Brazilian side. In Brazil, observers get a wonderful panoramic view of the falls and from Argentina, visitors can experience the walk-ways that lead out over falls for a dramatic vantage point.
Continue north to Rio de Janeiro. Visit Sugar Loaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer statue, join the trend setters of Ipanema or have a drink at least, if not stay at the institutional Copacabana Palace, where, in the words of Barry Manilow, “music and passion were always the fashion”. From Rio you can take a direct flight back to the UK.
