Tierra del Fuego - Ushuaia

Why visit Tierra del Fuego - Ushuaia

From the barren windswept plains of the north to the virgin lenga forests and glaciers descending toward the ocean in the south, Tierra del Fuego is a spellbinding destination for those who make it this far south. Ushuaia, the main town still retains the feel of a pioneer town, isolated and expectant.

About Tierra del Fuego - Ushuaia

Tierra del Fuego lies at the southernmost tip of mainland South America just beyond the Estrecho de Magallanes (Magellan Strait). The core of this enormous island is divided between Chilean territory to the west and Argentinean territory to the east. Perhaps take a catamaran trip on the Beagle Channel, fish in some of the world's finest trout rivers (November to March), or trek in the dramatic scenery of Lapataia National Park. From the southernmost town of Ushuaia nestled on the shores of the Beagle Channel, there are regular boat departures to the islands and fjords of the Patagonian archipelago and also for voyages to Antarctica.

  • Enjoy 4x4 excursions to lakes Escondido & Fagnano
  • Visit the intriguing old prison and Yamana museum of Ushuaia
  • Fly over the Beagle Channel and the Andes Mountains in a light aircraft.
  • Winter activities include skiing, cross-country skiing and dog sledge rides
  • Taste the local and delicious king crab
