Buenos Aires

The capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires was founded in 1580 on the shores of the Rio de la Plata and today it is one of the continent’s largest and most sophisticated cities.

Renowned for its mouth-watering cuisine, delicious local wines and the sound of the sensuous tango drifting through the evening air throughout the city, Buenos Aires has a variety of activities with all excursions are led by our expert guides.

These include enjoying colonial sights on a day trip to Colonia in Uruguay or taking a cruise along the River Delta, from the town of Tigre to the enchanting Recoleta cemetery.

A little more about Buenos Aires

Puerto Madero to the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve is a 865-acre tract of lowland that lies just a stone’s throw outside the city. An important area for ecology, it is a wonderful option for wildlife lovers who wish to avoid the hustle and bustle of the vibrant city.

The pampas, situated approximately one to two hours south of Buenos Aires, offers visitors the opportunity to experience the life of a gaucho (real Argentinean cowboys!) amongst enormous cattle ranches and elite polo schools. Time in the pampas is often spent horseback riding, playing polo, embarking on a round of golf or simply focusing on wellness. The traditions and lifestyles that thrive in these stunning estancias set on vast fertile rolling plains must be seen to be believed.

Our specialists' 'must do'

Head to Puerto Madero, the up and coming waterfront area of Buenos Aires, which occupies a significant area of the Rio de la Plata riverbank and is famed for the raunchy evening Rojo Tango show.

Additionally, visit the San Telmo Sunday Market in the oldest barrio of Buenos Aires in the main public square of Plaza Dorrego. With a backdrop of colonial buildings, characterful cafes, tango milongas and antique shops, this is the ideal location at which to while away a Sunday in the city.
