Covering the entire southern part of Colombia grows thick, tropical rainforest that hides a diverse selection of wildlife including the giant otter, sloth, a variety of monkeys and numerous plant species. Situated on the banks of the Amazon River, Leticia is the region's main gateway for jungle excursions or boat trips up the river to Iquitos in Peru or Manaus in Brazil.
